Philippe Rousseau
French(1816–1887)
Philippe Rousseau (1816, 1887) was a French painter celebrated for his still life compositions and animal paintings, often depicting game, fruits, vegetables, and domestic scenes with remarkable realism. A student of Jean-Victor Bertin and Paul Delaroche, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1834 onward, earning medals and widespread critical acclaim. His work bridges the traditions of Dutch Golden Age still life painting with 19th-century French naturalism.
