Pan Yuliang

Pan Yuliang (1895, 1977) was a pioneering Chinese painter who overcame a turbulent early life to become one of the most celebrated female artists of the 20th century. She studied in Paris and Shanghai, blending Western Post-Impressionist techniques with traditional Chinese aesthetics to create bold figure paintings, nudes, and self-portraits. Her work, long overlooked in China due to political circumstances, has achieved remarkable prices at auction and is now recognized as a landmark contribution to modern Chinese art.
