Niki de Saint Phalle (1930, 2002) was a French-American sculptor, painter, and filmmaker celebrated for her bold, vibrant, and monumental works that challenged gender norms and social conventions. She is best known for her iconic 'Nana' series, large, colorful female figures that became symbols of feminist liberation, as well as her grand architectural project, the Tarot Garden in Tuscany. A largely self-taught artist, she rose to prominence in the 1960s as part of the Nouveau Réalisme movement and later gained international recognition through major public installations worldwide.
