Maia Ruth Lee

Maia Ruth Lee is a Nepali-American multidisciplinary artist known for her tactile, labor-intensive works that explore themes of migration, labor, and cultural identity. She is best recognized for her 'Bondage Baggage' series, in which she wraps objects and luggage in hand-dyed rope, referencing the wrapped bundles used by migrant workers across Asia. Lee's practice spans sculpture, painting, and installation, drawing on her own experiences of displacement and cross-cultural identity.
