Lucien Coutaud

Lucien Coutaud (1904, 1977) was a French painter, illustrator, and stage designer known for his dreamlike, erotic, and fantastical imagery rooted in Surrealism. He was closely associated with the Surrealist movement in Paris and contributed illustrations to numerous literary works, including texts by André Breton and other avant-garde writers. His paintings are characterized by enigmatic female figures, lush symbolism, and a highly personal mythological vocabulary.
