Lubaina Himid is a painter and installation artist who creates vibrant, politically charged works addressing colonialism, slavery, and the invisibility of Black people in European history and culture. A key figure in the British Black Arts Movement of the 1980s, she won the Turner Prize in 2017. Her series "Naming the Money" features life-sized painted figures of enslaved African servants, restoring their individuality and humanity.
