Louise Bourgeois (1911, 2010) was a French-American artist best known for her large-scale sculpture and installation art, most famously her monumental spider series titled 'Maman.' Her deeply psychological work drew on personal trauma, memory, and the complexity of human relationships, blending elements of Surrealism, Abstraction, and Feminism. She gained widespread international recognition late in her career and is considered one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
