LIA is a pioneering Austrian artist and coder whose practice centers on generative software art, algorithmic processes, and real-time audiovisual performance. Working primarily with custom-written code, she creates evolving, rule-based visual systems that generate intricate abstract compositions, and her work spans screen-based pieces, prints, and live performances under her alter ego Phx. LIA has been exhibiting internationally since the late 1990s, with her work featured in major institutions and festivals including Ars Electronica, transmediale, and ZKM, cementing her status as a foundational figure in the generative and software art movements.
