Lan Ying was a leading Chinese painter of the late Ming dynasty, renowned for his mastery of both landscape and figure painting in the traditions of the Song and Yuan masters. Born in Qiantang (modern Hangzhou), he was considered the last great master of the Zhe School, synthesizing classical styles with his own refined sensibility. His long career and prolific output made him highly influential, and his works continue to appear regularly in major auction house sales of Chinese classical art.
