Joseph Christian Leyendecker (1874, 1951) was a German-born American illustrator renowned for his iconic cover designs for The Saturday Evening Post, to which he contributed over 300 covers. He is considered one of the most influential commercial artists of the early 20th century, credited with shaping American visual culture through his idealized depictions of the Arrow Collar Man and New Year's Baby imagery. His elegant, painterly style bridged fine art and illustration, and his work commands significant prices at auction, particularly his original oil studies and finished cover paintings.
