Ji Xin was a military officer serving under Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han dynasty of China. He is celebrated for his extraordinary act of loyalty at the Battle of Xingyang in 204 BC, when he disguised himself as Liu Bang and feigned surrender to the rival warlord Xiang Yu, allowing Liu Bang to escape. Captured and offered a chance to defect, Ji Xin refused and was burnt to death by Xiang Yu, earning him the posthumous title Marquis Zhonglie of Xingyang.
