Jamini Prakash Gangooly (1876, 1953) was a pioneering Indian painter and a prominent figure in the Bengal School of Art, known for his lyrical landscapes and sensitive portraiture that blended Indian sensibilities with Western academic techniques. A student of Abanindranath Tagore and later trained in Europe, he became one of the most celebrated artists of early 20th-century Bengal. His works have been widely collected and regularly appear at major Indian auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Pundole's.
