Jacques Doucet

Jacques Doucet (1924, 1994) was a French self-taught artist associated with the CoBrA movement and Art Brut, known for his vibrant, expressive canvases that blended spontaneity with raw emotional intensity. His work drew connections between Surrealism and the gestural freedom championed by the CoBrA group, with whom he exhibited in the late 1940s and 1950s. Doucet's paintings are characterized by bold color, fluid forms, and a lyrical abstraction that positioned him as a distinctive voice in postwar European art.
