Ian Berry (born 1934) is a renowned British documentary photographer best known for his coverage of the Sharpeville Massacre in South Africa in 1960, one of the few photographers to document the event. A long-standing member of the Magnum Photos agency, Berry has spent decades capturing pivotal moments of social and political upheaval across the globe, including the apartheid era in South Africa and the fall of the Soviet Union. His unflinching humanist approach has cemented his reputation as one of the most important photojournalists of the twentieth century.
