Howard Pyle

Howard Pyle (1853, 1911) was a pioneering American illustrator, author, and teacher widely regarded as the 'Father of American Illustration.' Known for his vivid depictions of pirates, medieval knights, and scenes from American history, his work appeared in major publications such as Harper's Weekly and Scribner's Magazine. Pyle also founded the Brandywine School and mentored celebrated artists including N.C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, and Jessie Willcox Smith.
