Fred W. McDarrah (1926, 2007) was an American photojournalist and picture editor best known for his decades-long tenure at The Village Voice, where he documented the Beat Generation, Abstract Expressionist artists, and New York City's bohemian cultural scene. His photographs captured iconic figures such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Willem de Kooning, and Andy Warhol in candid, intimate settings. McDarrah authored numerous books and is regarded as one of the premier chroniclers of mid-20th century American avant-garde culture.
