Erich Salomon (1886, 1944) was a pioneering German photojournalist widely regarded as one of the founders of modern photojournalism. Known for his candid, unposed photographs of politicians, diplomats, and celebrities taken in social settings, he revolutionized press photography by using a small, discreet Ermanox camera to capture subjects unaware. His intimate images of world leaders and cultural figures in the late Weimar Republic era earned him the nickname 'the king of indiscretion,' and his work appeared in major illustrated magazines across Europe and America.
