Emily Carr was a pioneering Canadian artist celebrated for her bold depictions of British Columbia's landscapes and the Indigenous villages and monumental art of First Nations peoples. Beyond painting, she was a gifted writer, winning the Governor General's Literary Award for her debut book Klee Wyck in 1941. She remains one of Canada's most iconic and influential creative figures of the early 20th century.
