Émile Vernet-Lecomte (1821, 1900) was a French Academic painter renowned for his Orientalist compositions, portraits, and genre scenes. A grandson of the celebrated painter Carle Vernet, he studied under Paul Delaroche and traveled extensively to North Africa and the Middle East, drawing inspiration for his richly detailed depictions of Eastern life. His works were regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon and are frequently encountered at auction for their fine craftsmanship and exotic subject matter.
