Eglon Hendrick van der Neer (1634, 1703) was a Dutch Golden Age painter celebrated for his refined genre scenes, portraits, and biblical subjects rendered with exceptional technical precision and luminous detail. Son of the renowned landscape painter Aert van der Neer, Eglon developed a distinctive style influenced by Gerard ter Borch and Frans van Mieris, characterized by silky textures, elegant figures, and meticulous finish. He served as court painter to the Elector Palatine and later to the King of Spain, earning widespread acclaim across European aristocratic circles.
