Edmund Berninger (1843, 1926) was a German painter known for his Orientalist works depicting scenes from North Africa and the Middle East. He studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and traveled extensively to Egypt and Morocco, which profoundly influenced his subject matter. His richly detailed canvases of marketplaces, desert landscapes, and figures in traditional dress were popular among collectors during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
