Edgar Alwin Payne was an American painter renowned for his sweeping Western landscape paintings and large-scale murals. He captured the grandeur of the American West, Sierra Nevada mountains, and European scenes with bold, expressive brushwork. Largely self-taught, he became one of the most celebrated landscape painters of the early 20th century.
