Born Sandra Fabara in Ambato, Ecuador, Lady Pink is one of the most celebrated figures in graffiti and street art history, rising to prominence in New York City's subway graffiti scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. She became the preeminent female graffiti artist of her era, painting subway cars from 1979 to 1985 and later transitioning to canvas works that blend graffiti aesthetics with themes of feminism, mythology, and social justice. Her work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and galleries worldwide, and she was prominently featured in the landmark 1983 hip-hop film 'Wild Style,' cementing her status as an iconic figure in both graffiti culture and broader contemporary art.
