Works
The Diquís Stone Figures are monolithic stone spheres and sculptural objects created by the ancient Diquís culture of pre-Columbian Costa Rica, primarily between 700, 1530 CE. Crafted from gabbro, limestone, or sandstone, these enigmatic spheres range from a few centimeters to over two meters in diameter and represent one of the most remarkable achievements of ancient American stoneworking. Their precise purpose remains debated, though they are believed to have held ceremonial, astronomical, or status-related significance, and they were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
