Danh Vo is a conceptual artist whose practice weaves together personal history, colonialism, religious iconography, and the material traces of cultural exchange. His work often incorporates found objects, fragments, and appropriated texts, most notably his ongoing series of dismembered Statue of Liberty replicas cast in copper and his intimate transcriptions of historical letters, including correspondence from a French missionary executed in Vietnam. Vo has been the subject of major exhibitions at institutions including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art, and he was awarded the Hugo Boss Prize in 2012.
