Hamed Abdalla was an abstract painter and theorist who developed 'Hurufiyya,' an artistic movement integrating Arabic letters and calligraphy into modernist abstraction. His politically engaged works addressed Pan-Arabism and anti-colonial struggle through fragmented text and gestural forms. His paintings are held in collections including the Barjeel Art Foundation and the Arab World Institute in Paris.
