Almaraz was a founding member of Los Four and created vibrant, expressionistic paintings depicting Los Angeles landscapes, car crashes, and urban scenes with emotional intensity. His work synthesized Mexican muralism with California Funk and Neo-Expressionism. His paintings are held by LACMA, the Smithsonian, and were featured in the major retrospective 'Playing with Fire.'
