Bertjan Pot is a celebrated Dutch designer best known for his innovative Material Driven Design approach, most famously exemplified by his Random Light (1999), a pendant lamp constructed from epoxy-soaked fiberglass wound around a balloon mold, which became an iconic piece of contemporary design. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and later collaborated extensively with Marcel Wanders, while his independent studio has produced rugs, furniture, and objects that balance playful experimentation with rigorous material exploration. His work is held in the collections of major design institutions and is produced by leading manufacturers including Moooi and Hay, cementing his status as one of the most influential Dutch designers of his generation.
