Bernd Becher, working collaboratively with Hilla Becher, created systematic photographic typologies of industrial architecture including water towers, gas tanks, and blast furnaces. Their objective documentary approach influenced the Düsseldorf School of Photography and established photography as conceptual art. Their work is in major collections including MoMA, Guggenheim, and Tate.
