Bernardino Barbatelli, known as Il Poccetti (1548, 1612), was a prominent Florentine painter and fresco artist of the late Mannerist period. He trained under Marco da Faenza and became renowned for his large-scale decorative fresco cycles in Florentine churches and convents, including works at Santa Maria Novella and the Chiostro Grande of the Certosa di Galluzzo. His style bridged late Mannerism and the emerging naturalism of the early Baroque, earning him significant patronage from Medici circles and religious institutions throughout Tuscany.
