Samella Lewis

Samella Lewis was an influential African American art historian, painter, and printmaker who dedicated her career to documenting and promoting Black artists. She founded the Museum of African American Art in Los Angeles and was a pioneering scholar in African American art history. Her work helped establish the critical framework for understanding Black artistic contributions to American culture.
