Antanas Sutkus is one of Lithuania's most celebrated documentary photographers, renowned for his humanist black-and-white portraits capturing everyday Soviet-era life in Lithuania. He co-founded the Lithuanian Photography Art Society in 1969 and gained international recognition for his iconic images, including his famous photographs of Jean-Paul Sartre's 1965 visit to Vilnius. His work is held in major museum collections worldwide and continues to be sought after at international auction houses.
