Anila Quayyum Agha is a Pakistani-American interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, installation, printmaking, and painting. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, she earned her BFA from the National College of Arts in Lahore before completing her MFA at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her work is deeply informed by her dual cultural identity, navigating the intersections of Islamic geometric ornamentation, Western artistic traditions, and the politics of gender, exclusion, and belonging. Agha is best known for her large-scale light installations that transform gallery and museum spaces into immersive, shadow-filled environments, drawing on the intricate lattice patterns found in Islamic architecture and craft traditions.
