Alain Ramié was a French ceramicist and gallerist who, together with his wife Suzanne Ramié, founded the Madoura pottery workshop in Vallauris, France. The Madoura workshop became internationally renowned as the exclusive studio where Pablo Picasso created his celebrated ceramic works beginning in 1947, and Ramié played a central role in producing and authenticating Picasso's ceramic editions. He authored the authoritative catalogue raisonné of Picasso's ceramics, 'Picasso: Catalogue of the Edited Ceramic Works 1947, 1971,' which remains an essential scholarly reference.
