Absalon

French-Israeli(1964–1993)

Working in sculpture, video, and installation, Absalon created white, cell-like architectural structures as proposals for minimal living spaces before his early death from AIDS. His 'Cellules' series, shown at documenta IX, explored isolation, purity, and utopian ideals. His work is held by Centre Pompidou, Van Abbemuseum, and other major collections.
