Orlan

A performance and body artist, Orlan uses plastic surgery, photography, and video to question beauty standards and identity, most notably in her ongoing 'The Reincarnation of Saint Orlan' series begun in 1990. Her extreme performances and self-transformation works challenge cultural norms around the female body. Her work is held by Centre Pompidou and international contemporary art museums.
