Angelina Beloff

Angelina Beloff (1879, 1969) was a Russian-born artist who spent much of her life in Mexico, where she became a significant figure in the cultural milieu of the early twentieth century. She is perhaps best known for her long romantic partnership with Diego Rivera, whom she met in Paris, and her work spans painting, printmaking, and puppetry. Her style blended European modernism with a sensitivity to Mexican themes, and she made important contributions to the art of marionette theater and illustration in Mexico.
