Will Barnet

Will Barnet (1911, 2012) was an American painter and printmaker known for his distinctive figurative style that blended elements of modernism with a serene, timeless quality. His work evolved from social realism and abstraction in the mid-20th century toward a refined, flat compositional style often depicting women, children, cats, and domestic scenes with bold contours and muted color harmonies. Barnet had a prolific career spanning eight decades and was also a celebrated teacher at the Art Students League of New York, where he influenced generations of artists.
