Sakti Burman

Sakti Burman is a celebrated Indian painter born in 1935 in Kolkata, known for his dreamlike, fantastical compositions that blend Indian mythology, European classical influences, and a deeply personal visual vocabulary. Having trained at the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata and later in Paris, he developed a distinctive style characterized by layered narratives, luminous color palettes, and figures drawn from folklore and ancient texts.
