Mikhail Roginsky (1931, 2004) was a Soviet-born Russian artist whose work is celebrated for its examination of everyday Soviet life through a distinctive blend of Pop Art sensibilities and a deeply personal, almost melancholic realism. He is best known for his depictions of mundane objects, matchboxes, doors, kitchen utensils, and walls, rendered with a raw, gestural quality that transforms the ordinary into profound commentary on Soviet existence. Roginsky emigrated to Paris in 1978, where he continued to develop his unique visual language, earning recognition as an important figure bridging Russian nonconformist art and Western contemporary movements.
