Herman Herzog (1831, 1932) was a German-American landscape painter celebrated for his atmospheric depictions of forests, rivers, and coastal scenes across Europe and North America. Trained in Düsseldorf under the renowned landscape painter Hans Fredrik Gude, he emigrated to the United States in 1869 and became one of the most prolific landscape artists of the 19th century. His works are frequently sold at major auction houses and are prized for their luminous light effects and detailed naturalism.
