Wally Hedrick (1928, 2003) was an American painter and assemblage artist who was a central figure in the San Francisco Beat Generation art scene. He co-founded the Six Gallery, the legendary venue where Allen Ginsberg first read 'Howl' in 1955, and is known for his politically charged works, including his series of black-painted canvases created in protest of the Vietnam War. His work blends abstract expressionism with pop sensibilities and countercultural commentary.
