Clarence K. Chatterton (1880, 1973) was an American painter known for his luminous landscapes and coastal scenes, particularly those depicting New England and the Hudson Valley region. He studied under William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri, developing a style rooted in American Impressionism with a strong sense of light and atmosphere. Chatterton spent much of his career teaching at Vassar College, where he influenced generations of students while continuing to exhibit his work widely.
