Eva Aeppli (1925, 2015) was a Swiss sculptor best known for her haunting textile figures, large-scale stuffed fabric human forms that explore themes of suffering, mortality, and the human condition. Her works, often somber and meditation-like, gained significant recognition through her association with the Nouveau Réalisme movement and her long personal and artistic relationship with Jean Tinguely. She is considered a pioneering figure in soft sculpture, creating emotionally charged figurative works that stand apart from the mechanical and ironic tendencies of her contemporaries.
