Marguerite Thompson Zorach

Marguerite Thompson Zorach (1887, 1968) was an American modernist painter and textile artist who was among the first artists to introduce Fauvism and Cubism to the United States after studying in Paris. She is celebrated for her vibrant, colorful oil paintings depicting landscapes, figures, and domestic scenes, as well as her pioneering embroidered tapestries that elevated needlework to fine art status. A founding member of key modernist circles, she exhibited alongside her husband William Zorach and played a significant role in shaping early American avant-garde art.
