Richard Bartholomew (1926, 1985) was a pioneering Indian photographer widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the development of modern photography in India. He was deeply embedded in the New Delhi art scene and was a close associate of the Progressive Artists' Group, documenting iconic figures such as M.F. Husain, Ram Kumar, and Tyeb Mehta through his lens. Bartholomew was also a respected art critic whose writings helped shape the discourse around contemporary Indian art in the mid-20th century.
