Yellow Rising
2018
A set of seven color etchings by Anish Kapoor titled 'Yellow Rising' (2018), each presenting a luminous, soft-edged white form floating within a vivid gradient field ranging from deep orange to brilliant yellow. The works evoke Kapoor's signature preoccupation with void, light, and transcendence — transforming the flatness of the etching medium into an almost atmospheric, immersive experience. Edition 16 of 39, each panel measures 28 × 38 inches and is presented framed at 30 × 40 inches. The set is signed and in good condition, located in the library.

Artists in conversation

James Turrell
American · b. 1943

Turrell's work shares Kapoor's obsession with light as a transcendent, immersive force, using luminous gradients of warm yellows and oranges to dissolve boundaries between form and void. His exploration of radiant light fields mirrors the atmospheric, softly glowing quality of Yellow Rising.

Olafur Eliasson
Danish-Icelandic · b. 1967

Eliasson creates works centered on vivid spectral gradients, warm solar yellows, and the phenomenological experience of light and atmospheric color, closely echoing the luminous orange to yellow field in Kapoor's etchings. Both artists treat color as an immersive, almost physical presence rather than mere decoration.
Shirazeh Houshiary
Iranian-British · b. 1955
Houshiary's prints and paintings feature softly radiant central forms that emerge from deep, saturated color fields, evoking themes of void, breath, and spiritual transcendence that align closely with Kapoor's Yellow Rising. Her abstract minimalist approach and interest in light dissolving into darkness parallel Kapoor's etching technique and conceptual concerns.
