Panthéon, Paris
2017
A striking large-format lithograph by the French street artist JR, depicting a solitary figure standing at the vanishing point of a vast crowd of faces that carpet the grand interior of the Panthéon in Paris. The composition creates a powerful optical illusion, with hundreds of photographed faces radiating outward from a central glowing light source, rendered in dramatic black-and-white tones. This work was part of the 2018 portfolio 'Reporter Sans Frontières – 100 photos pour la liberté de la presse' and is numbered lower left, with the artist's stamp, date, and signature lower right, printed on the Idem Paris press with their blind stamp. The edition of only 180 makes this a highly collectible example of JR's signature participatory and monumental photographic practice.
