Untitled
2010
This work employs tar-soaked found garments applied directly to paper, creating an evocative visual language rooted in Arte Povera principles. The uncontrolled staining produced by the tar-dipped coat generates ghostly impressions that blur the line between painting and object, abstraction and figuration. The artist transforms mundane, discarded clothing into profound aesthetic statements, investing everyday materials with spiritual and temporal significance. The black tar creates haunting silhouettes that suggest absence and presence simultaneously, transforming the banal into the poignant. This piece exemplifies the post-war European commitment to radical material experimentation as a means of social and artistic critique.
