Hug
2018
A large-scale oil on canvas by Japanese artist Kei Imazu (b. 1980), titled 'Hug' and executed in 2018. The composition features an energetic turquoise field disrupted by fragmented figurative and organic forms — draped flesh-toned bodies, driftwood-like shards, and gestural marks — creating a sense of explosive, centrifugal movement. Imazu's signature layering of hyperrealistic painted fragments over loose, expressive grounds blurs the boundary between figuration and abstraction. The work is signed and dated on the reverse and was sold at a Contemporary Day Auction in Hong Kong.
